Business Challenges
Challenge 1
The aerospace company’s existing data center was out of space and power and did not meet Department of Defense requirements. The cost of renovations was estimated to be more than $15 million.

Custom-Built Roadmap for Modernization and Efficiency
A dedicated delivery team from ePlus worked with the customer’s key stakeholders to provide rapid delivery in just six weeks. After careful assessment of existing application and cloud architectures, hardware and security requirements, data center limitations, organizational structure, and performance metrics, ePlus presented detailed TCO comparisons of cloud migration, data center, and colocation options. The defense company is now armed with a detailed roadmap that includes both technology and business recommendations for the future.

Actionable Insight for Data-Backed Decisions
The customer was able to make an informed strategic decision on how to best expand their IT footprint with full transparency into associated cost models and ROI. Based on ePlus’ recommendations to deploy a hybrid data center strategy, the organization will build out a colocation data center (at a facility that is fully compliant with the DoD contract requirements) with modern, high-density compute and networking equipment while also acting on the identified cloud-ready applications to migrate to a government cloud service provider. The customer anticipates projected savings of more than $12M over the next three years, including a full hardware refresh, to migrate to an optimized colocation/cloud model by avoiding the $15M data center facilities upgrade.
