The future of collaboration isn’t limited to people communicating with each other—it also encompasses seamless interactions with autonomous AI agents—which are driving new advancements in the way we work together. Cisco’s flagship collaboration event, WebexOne 2025, recently concluded in San Diego, California, showcased how Cisco continues to drive innovation and solidify its leadership in creating future-proofed workplaces and AI-powered enterprise communication.

The keynotes at WebexOne featured many exciting announcements from Cisco, highlighting how AI will be leveraged to elevate both employee and customer experiences. Cisco outlined its vision for the future workplace—one where humans and AI agents work seamlessly together to enhance communication, streamline workflows, and foster deeper engagement. This focus on AI underscores Cisco’s commitment to shaping future-proof workplaces and delivering cutting-edge, AI-powered enterprise communication solutions.

AI Agents: The New Teammates

The next big leap in agentic AI for Cisco collaboration was marked by their announcement of several new AI Agents for the Webex Suite—autonomous digital workers that can handle tasks across both employee and customer interactions. These AI Agents are designed to elevate productivity, enhance user experiences, and redefine how people collaborate with both AI and each other:

Meeting Scheduler
Scheduling a meeting is as simple as making a request from the chat panel. The assistant can also automatically recognize when follow-up meetings are needed, search users’ availability, and propose a meeting for review and approval—saving time, reducing manual coordination and minimizing scheduling conflicts.

Notetaker
Transcribe and summarize in-person meetings in real time, capturing the value of spontaneous huddles and brainstorms – no need to call into a meeting.

Polling Agent
Cisco's interactive audience engagement platform, Slido proactively suggests launching a live poll during a Webex Meeting to boost attendee engagement and capture real-time feedback from participants.

Task Agent
Automatically generates action items from meeting transcripts, reducing the need for manual follow-up. Beyond task creation, its Agent-to-Agent (A2A) capabilities allow it to seamlessly complete tasks—such as scheduling meetings, performing tasks in third-party applications, updating tickets in Jira or generating new leads in Salesforce—without user intervention.

Receptionist
A new virtual receptionist that can handle customer inquiries and perform tasks such as call transfers and appointment scheduling

In addition to these the Cisco AI Assistant is embracing an open ecosystem and soon will integrate with leading enterprise knowledge platforms allowing search capabilities across enterprise platforms like Amazon Q Index, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Glean Enterprise Graph.

Device Innovations: RoomOS 26 and Beyond

Cisco’s strategic decision to power its video collaboration devices with NVIDIA technology continues to pay dividends as it has enabled advanced AI capabilities directly at the edge. This has allowed Cisco to bring to market endpoints with features such as advanced noise cancelation, frames and meeting zones directly on the endpoint. The upcoming release of RoomOS 26 leverages this edge computing power to deliver a range of new features that significantly enhance collaboration experiences for end users.

The new RoomOS 26, starting with its evolved Momentum Design, features a more user-friendly interface—with a new home screen design to focus on what really matters, a new control panel overlay making device control easy and accessible, simplified sharing experience along with increased transparency and increased contrast to making everything easier to see on screen. In addition to these design updates the following features were announced:

home office on tablet screen

Audio Exclusion Zones
Enables the setup of digital boundaries in meeting spaces, ensuring that the AI-powered Ceiling Mic Pro captures sound only within those defined areas.

Meeting Director
Using AI the Director analyzes the size of the room, the number of people in the room and how they are interacting to anticipate and adapt to the meeting flow delivering engaging cinematic views.

AI Notetaker
Like the Notetaker agent in the Webex App, this AI Agent is also available on Cisco Devices to transcribe and summarize local meetings, capturing the value of impromptu huddles and brainstorm sessions.

Workspace Advisor
Leveraging Cisco advanced cameras and powerful NVIDIA chipsets the Workspace Advisor can create a “digital twin” of your physical space. This 3D representation of the room is brought into Control Hub, allowing IT Administrators to validate the configuration and even make changes based on recommendations from the advisor such as the enablement of Meeting Zones.

Zero-touch provisioning
Simplify device onboarding at scale with plug-and-play setup, automated deployments and centralized control.

Zoom for Cisco Rooms
Users can also join full featured Zoom meetings on the same device—benefiting users who join and host Zoom Meetings; and IT teams who get access to Cisco’s powerful device management, and workspace analytics.

Network Aware Rooms
Simplifying AV deployments, enhancing security and remote monitoring, Webex Control Hub will provide total visibility for your IP connected collaboration devices and Cisco network switches.

AI Canvas + Collaboration
Announced earlier this year at Cisco Live, AI Canvas is a platform utilizing AgenticOps and Generative UI to bring together NetOps, SecOps and app teams to solve issues faster using intelligent workspaces that use real-time telemetry, AI insights and team collaboration all in one view. With the additon of Webex Control Hub, IT Admins can proactively diagnose and resolve network, video, and call-quality issues.

Along with all these new feature’s Cisco will soon support Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) for devices running RoomOS 26 allowing devices configured as Microsoft Teams Rooms to leverage the latest Microsoft security features and innovations.

Contact Center: Expanding Your Reach

Webex Contact Center’s AI Agent is expanding global reach with an additional 50+ languages and will expand its integrations through Agent-to-Agent (A2A) and Model Context Protocol (MCP)—to seamlessly orchestrate workflows across systems, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction. In addition, the new AI Quality Management platform for human and AI agents allows for automated monitoring to score interactions, provide real-time insights and empower agents with tailored coaching—saving time and providing better customer service.

Why It Matters: The Future of Work

Cisco’s latest announcements showcase how they are redefining the future of work with AI-driven innovation, intelligent devices, and seamless collaboration—whether human-to-human, human-to-AI or AI-to-AI. The announcements unveiled at WebexOne 2025 are designed to boost productivity, enhance user experiences, and build workplaces that are truly future proof.
